CHALLENGE
Declining business for three years, putting a negative view on the local teams. I arrived in this context and took over a local Marketing team viewed very negatively by the regional and global teams.
How to rebuild confidence within the Marketing team and between local and global Marketing?
APPROACH
1-to-1 meeting with every member of the Marketing team, not only direct reports.
Acting as a bridge between Global and Local and fencing the team from further hits.
Gave guidance to the local Marketing team to find the right balance between regaining the trust of Global and doing what is right for the French business. Found opportunities for positive exposure.
Provided feedback so they could improve and new projects to learn.
RESULTS
In a few months, the French marketing team was no longer being criticized for being incompetent but used as best-in-class example for their marketing plans and in particular, the way they managed communication.
The Marketing manager of the #1 brand was also nominated as Rising Start by Global Human Resources and brought to the Award ceremony in the U.S. After I left, she was promoted to my position as Marketing Director.
